How it works

How LeaseChargeCheck works

LeaseChargeCheck is designed to help you organise and understand lease return charges — not to tell you a charge is automatically wrong. Here's what's available today, and what we're building next.

Enter your charges

Add the charges from your lease return invoice using ourchecker — by category, with a description and amount for each. This runs in your browser; nothing is sent to a server or saved anywhere.

Get a preliminary breakdown

Instantly see your charges grouped into damage/condition, excess mileage and other charges, each marked as worth reviewing or not, based purely on whether there's an amount in that category.

Use the evidence checklist

Work through a plain checklist of the documents and photographs that typically matter most — your inspection report, handover/return photos, lease agreement, and mileage figures.

Coming soon: Full Charge Review

We're exploring a paid, more detailed review for drivers who want more structured help. If we build it, the plan is for it to include:

  • A charge-by-charge review against the evidence you provide
  • Guidance on what additional evidence would strengthen your position
  • A structured, personalised document you can use when responding to your leasing company

As with the free checker, the full review will not declare that a charge is legally invalid, and it will not promise that any charge will be reduced or cancelled. It's designed to help you put together the clearest, best-organised case you can — the decision about how to respond, and any negotiation with your leasing company, remains yours.

This feature has not launched yet, pricing has not been decided, and no payment is currently being taken for it.

What LeaseChargeCheck doesn't do

  • We don't claim a charge is legally invalid because our tool questions it
  • We're not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the BVRLA, any leasing company, regulator or ombudsman
  • We don't promise that any charge will be cancelled or reduced
  • We don't provide legal or financial advice
